Under the “No Surprises Act,” healthcare providers are required to give patients a good faith estimate. This estimate serves as a transparent and upfront disclosure of the expected costs of medical services, ensuring patients are aware of the financial implications before undergoing treatment. Your out of pocket cost will never be more than the cost listed above for the services you receive at Mid-Atlantic Psychotherapy. By providing a good faith estimate, patients have the opportunity to make informed decisions about their healthcare, explore alternative options, or negotiate with their providers and insurance companies, ultimately promoting cost transparency and reducing surprises in medical billing. This requirement aims to empower patients, enhance healthcare affordability, and foster a more patient-centered approach within the healthcare system.
If you have questions about your financial responsibility, please speak with your clinician and/or contact your insurance plan as each plan is specific to the subscriber.
We may be an in-network provider for your CareFirst PPO plan. Otherwise, we are "out of network" providers and payment is due at the time of service. Upon request, We will provide you with a detailed "superbill*" you can submit to your behavioral health insurance plan for reimbursement. Your insurance carrier can inform you at what percentage rate they will reimburse you. Contact your insurance provider for details.
All behavioral health providers must adhere to the HIPAA Privacy Rule thereby ensuring the protection and privacy of patient information. Additionally, the National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics holds the confidentiality of each patient a priority of practice. The exception to this is when a patient is in danger of being a threat to him/herself or others.
There is not a predetermined timeframe for psychotherapy. Sessions are individualized to meet your needs and I will regularly check in with you to confirm your satisfaction with our work together. Sometimes, exploring and identifying your goals in four of five sessions can help you on your way. Other times, longer term services are necessary for exploring how past experiences have influenced current behaviors. Important changes can be made at any point during treatment.
We use a trusted web-based platform called SimplePractice to provide you safe and confidential therapeutic sessions. You can access our video appointments from your smartphone, tablet, or computer as long as you have internet access and a confidential/private space of your own.
Also, we are licensed providers in the District of Columbia and Virginia, therefore, to adhere to licensing requirements, you are also required to be located in one of these two jurisdictions during our appointment times.
Our providers will provide you a "superbill" for you to submit to your insurance company. It will include all the required information need. Keep in mind, most insurance providers require a psychiatric diagnosis and regular updates on a patient's progress towards symptom reduction for reimbursement of "out of network" behavioral health services.
