Depression, like most of our emotions, is not one size fits all. Accordingly, our clinicians will complete a thorough assessment with you to find out where you are struggling most. Symptoms of depression can be episodic or persistent, but you don't have to suffer from them alone. Online psychotherapy can provide an opportunity for the treatment of depression. Our skilled psychotherapists may recommend a combination of therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes and you'll be in the driver seat about which combination of these you're comfortable starting with. Therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or interpersonal therapy (IPT) can help individuals identify and modify negative thought patterns, develop healthy coping strategies, and improve relationships and communication skills. Other approaches include psychodynamic, somatic, attachment-based therapies, and grief counseling.
Anxiety is a common condition that ranges from mild to severe and Mid-Atlantic has the right therapist for anxiety to help you. When this natural response goes into overdrive and becomes a form that is persistent or chronic, then it's time to engage in an intervention to help relieve your suffering. Whether you experience symptoms consistent with past trauma, social circumstances, or otherwise, there is a combination of therapeutic approaches that can help you manage your symptoms. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), is commonly used to help individuals modify underlying thought patterns and behaviors that no longer serve them. This, in concert with various mindfulness strategies, can help you develop useful skills to find relief. You and your psychotherapist will find a combination that works best for you and highlights your strengths.
A trauma-informed approach to therapy means that your psychotherapist is sensitive to and adept at identifying the ways in which your brain may be responding to present day triggers of past circumstances that were highly stressful or dangerous. Traumatic events and stressful events are different, but both can create a significant response to the human nervous system. If there are areas of your life whereby you no longer feel a sense of safety or ease, then a trauma-informed therapeutic approach may help you find some secure footing. You don't have to suffer alone, online psychotherapy can be the first step towards relief.
Group therapy is a form of counseling where a small group of individuals with similar concerns or life experience come together under the guidance of a trained clinician. In group therapy, participants share their experiences, thoughts, and emotions in a supportive and confidential environment. The group dynamic allows for the exploration of personal issues, the development of interpersonal skills, and the opportunity to gain insights from others facing similar challenges. Group therapy offers a unique and powerful platform for you to receive feedback, support, and different perspectives from others who may relate to what you're experiencing.
EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique, commonly known as "tapping" therapy, is a holistic modality that combines principles from traditional Chinese medicine, psychology, and acupressure. It involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on emotional issues or physical discomfort. By tapping on these points, EFT aims to balance the body's energy system and lower the intensity of negative emotions. This technique is based on the belief that imbalances in the body's energy flow can contribute to emotional and physical disturbances, and by tapping on specific points, one can release blockages and restore harmony within the body and mind. EFT has gained popularity as a self-help tool and is often used to address various issues such as anxiety, stress, phobias, and trauma.
